Q&A with David Passieri
  • How would you make life better for the citizens of your district?

David: Even before running for office, I have worked tirelessly to limit federal government intrusion and empower local officials and residents. I am in favor of legislation that gives each community a strong voice and the opportunity for every individual to live in peace and privacy.

  • How can you enhance free market enterprise in your area?

David: I would work to enact measures that help decentralized, bottom-up small businesses, the greatest weapon against government bloat. That means streamlining regulation and welcoming more technological innovation.

  • Do you support strengthening the 2nd Amendment?

David: Yes, I will do so wherever possible, ensuring that responsible Montanans are not disarmed by zealous politicians who want to put the power in the hands of criminals.

  • How would you improve public safety within your district?

David: Public safety should be our top priority. I support state funding to properly staff and pay our local police force, and I believe our laws on the books should be fully enforced. At the same time, I favor keeping intact Lake County’s jurisdiction over tribal member felony incarcerations, instead of ineffective federal oversight that keeps incarcerated individuals miles away from family.

  • Are you an advocate of local hunting?

David: I have continually supported the issuance of fur-bearing hunting permits within the boundaries of all federally recognized Indian Reservations. The local out-of-control deer population is a real danger to motorists and vital crops. We must be better stewards of our land and replace bad legislation now on the books.

  • What is your stand on the issue of abortion?

David: I have testified in favor of Montana Pro Life initiatives. Unborn children and healthy expectant mothers, in my view, are our most precious gift and resource.

  • Do you have any concerns about the overall health of your constituents?

David: I enthusiastically support measures to combat pollution and unhealthy toxins in the air, water, medicines and food that we eat. I want our children to grow up healthy and strong, and for that wellness to continue throughout adulthood. To achieve this, we must weed out incompetence and corruption in federal agencies.

  • Do you believe the current CSKT Water Compact is good for local communities?

David: I would scrap the current compact and push for a new agreement, free of alleged fraud, collusion and federal overreach. I have testified in Helena against the current pact, and I support our tribal neighbors having a voice in this debate without threats to their jobs and land leases.

  • Why would you be good for Montanans in your district?

David: For years as a private citizen, I have fought for the rights of my community and neighbors, through legislative testimony, videotaping countless hours of public meetings, funding informational advertising and working to ensure that the rights of every local resident are respected and protected.
